Foundation e-Coffee Mornings

Raise a Smile

Lincoln City Foundation's Extra Time Hub sessions that are designed for those aged 55 and over, remain paused at present, but this has not deterred the team or the group from developing new ways to ensure members continue to feel connected during this time.

The Foundation have been facilitating a virtual coffee morning each Wednesday using a free and user-friendly online platform which can be accessed from a smartphone, laptop or tablet. The participant-led meetings offer a chance for members to chat and see one another via video, with future meetings to include activities such as guest speakers, home exercise ideas, quizzes and other challenges.

Those that do not have access to online sessions can ask for an Extra Time Hubs Activity Pack created by Foundation staff, which can be posted out to members and contain ideas to keep busy and active whilst staying safe at home.

Alice Carter, Senior Community Organiser at Lincoln City Foundation said: "We understand the current social distancing measures that are in place are crucial to keep individuals safe and protect essential services, however the effects of the lockdown can also lead to people feeling lonely and isolated. It is a challenge we know many are facing but hope by reaching out in this way that we can help to make this time a little easier".

"Many of our members are thankful for the regular contact and the offer of a phone call and a human voice."

The Extra Time Hub is a Foundation delivered programme giving like-minded people the opportunity to have regular social interaction, usually taking place at the LNER Stadium. Whilst at the Hub you can take part in activities such as New Age Kurling, Boccia, Carpet Bowls, Table Tennis and Archery.

Extra Time Hubs is a national project from the EFL Trust and is initially being delivered by 11 EFL Clubs and with support from National Lottery funding from Sport England.
